Your voicemail inbox
Voicemails holds every message a caller has left, newest first.
Reading rather than listening
Section titled “Reading rather than listening”Each voicemail is transcribed automatically, and the list shows the text of the message right in the Message column. Most of the time you never play the audio at all — you skim the transcripts, spot the two that matter, and act on those.
A message that says “No transcription yet” was just left; transcription takes a moment. Refresh in a minute.
The columns
Section titled “The columns”From — the caller’s number, with their name if they match a Shopify customer.
Message — the transcript.
Received — when it was left.
Length — how long the message is.
Status — New or Listened.
Playback — a player, so you can listen without leaving the list.
New versus Listened
Section titled “New versus Listened”A voicemail is New until you play it. Playing it marks it Listened.
That’s the only thing that changes the status — reading the transcript doesn’t, because Callify can’t tell reading from scrolling past.
The New view filters to unheard messages, which makes it a reasonable to-do list. If you work mostly from transcripts, play each message briefly as you handle it and the view stays meaningful.
Searching
Section titled “Searching”The search box matches phone number, transcript text, or location.
Searching the transcript is the useful one. Type refund and you get every
voicemail where someone said the word — across every caller, however long ago.
Same for a product name, or order number.
The full detail
Section titled “The full detail”Click a voicemail to open the call it belongs to. That page shows the caller, the time, the audio with a scrubbing player, and the full transcript — plus Download audio and Download transcript.
If the caller matches a Shopify customer, their card is there too: contact details, how many orders they’ve placed, and lifetime spend. Handy context before you call someone back.
Calling someone back
Section titled “Calling someone back”Callify doesn’t place outbound calls — dial the number from your own phone as usual. The caller’s number is on the voicemail, and copies from the detail page.
If your number is registered for texting, texting back is often faster and gets a better response than a call the customer has to be free to take. Note that texting someone who left a voicemail needs their permission — a voicemail isn’t consent to be texted on its own.
Storage and retention
Section titled “Storage and retention”Voicemails stay in your inbox and aren’t deleted on a schedule.
If you need a permanent copy of something important, download the audio and the transcript. That file is yours regardless of what happens to your account.
Uninstalling Callify removes your voicemails along with the rest of your data — see privacy and your data.
