Business hours
Business hours decide one thing: whether a call rings your phone or goes straight to voicemail.
You’ll find them in Settings → Business Hours.
Out of the box: always open
Section titled “Out of the box: always open”Until you turn on a schedule, your line is open 24 hours a day, every day. Every call rings your phone, whatever time it is.
That’s deliberate — a schedule with nothing in it would mean you’re never open, so Callify doesn’t assume one.
Setting your timezone first
Section titled “Setting your timezone first”Before anything else, set Store timezone. Every hour you enter is interpreted in this zone, so getting it wrong shifts your whole schedule.
Callify supports the US and Canadian zones:
| Eastern Time (ET) | Atlantic Time (AT) |
| Central Time (CT) | Newfoundland Time (NT) |
| Mountain Time (MT) | Toronto, Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg |
| Pacific Time (PT) | Arizona (MST, no daylight saving) |
| Alaska Time (AKT) | Hawaii Time (HT) |
Daylight saving is handled for you. If your zone observes it, your 9am stays 9am across the switch.
Turning on a schedule
Section titled “Turning on a schedule”Switch on Enable specific operating hours. A weekly schedule appears, and each day gets one of three settings:
Closed — no calls ring your phone that day. Every caller goes to voicemail.
Open 24 hours — calls ring all day.
Custom hours — calls ring between the times you set. You can add more than one range per day, which is how you handle a lunch break:
Monday · 9:00 to 12:00 · and · 13:00 to 17:00
Use Add time range for the second block. Ranges on the same day can’t overlap, and an end time has to come after its start time — Callify will tell you if they don’t.
Times are entered on a 24-hour clock: 09:00 is 9am, 17:00 is 5pm.
Everything closed
Section titled “Everything closed”If you set every day to Closed, Callify warns you, because it’s rarely what someone means:
- With voicemail on, no call ever rings your phone, and every caller goes to voicemail. That’s a legitimate setup if you’d rather work through messages than take live calls.
- With voicemail off, every caller hears “we’re closed” and the call ends. Nobody can reach you at all.
Open at least one day if you want to take live calls.
Things worth knowing
Section titled “Things worth knowing”A call in progress isn’t cut off. Hours decide whether a new call rings you. A conversation that started at 4:58pm carries on past 5pm.
Holidays override this schedule. A date in your holiday schedule uses the holiday’s hours instead of the weekly ones — including on days you’d normally be open.
Texting isn’t affected. Business hours only govern calls. Customers can text you at any hour, and their messages wait in your inbox.
Changes take effect immediately. Press Save and the next call follows the new schedule.
A couple of common setups
Section titled “A couple of common setups”Regular retail week
Monday to Friday, custom hours 9:00 to 17:00. Saturday 10:00 to 16:00. Sunday Closed. Everything outside that goes to voicemail.
Small team, no fixed hours
Leave the schedule off entirely, keep screening on, and decide call by call whether to press a key. Anything you don’t accept becomes a voicemail you can read later.
Voicemail-only line
Every day Closed, voicemail on, with a greeting that says you’ll call back. Every customer leaves a message, you read the transcripts, and you return the ones worth returning.
