Call recording
Callify can record the calls you answer, and write out what was said.
It’s on by default, controlled in Settings → Calls by the switch labelled Record answered calls.
What gets recorded
Section titled “What gets recorded”Answered calls only — conversations where you pressed a key (or picked up, if screening is off) and actually spoke to someone.
Not calls that went to voicemail. Those are saved separately as voicemails, and they’re recorded whether or not call recording is on — a voicemail is a recording, of a caller talking to your greeting.
Not the screening announcement, and not the ringing before you answered. Recording starts when you’re connected.
The announcement
Section titled “The announcement”When recording is on, both you and the caller hear this before you’re connected:
“This call may be recorded for quality and training purposes.”
You can’t turn this off separately. It’s part of recording being on. Turn recording off and the announcement stops too.
Where recordings show up
Section titled “Where recordings show up”Open Calls, then click any call to open its detail page. A recorded call has:
The audio, with a player you can scrub through, plus Download audio to save the file.
A transcript, written out and split by speaker — labelled Caller and You — with a timestamp on each turn. Click any turn to jump the audio to that moment.
Download transcript saves the text as a file.
Transcription runs shortly after the call ends, so a recording that’s just finished may show its audio before the text appears. Give it a minute.
Some transcripts have no speaker labels — that happens when the audio arrived as a single mixed channel with no way to tell the voices apart. The text is still there.
Turning recording off
Section titled “Turning recording off”Flip the switch in Settings → Calls and press Save. From then on:
- New answered calls aren’t recorded, and nobody hears the announcement.
- Calls still appear in your history, with caller, time, duration and outcome — just no audio or transcript.
- Recordings already made are kept. Turning it off stops new recordings; it doesn’t erase old ones.
- Voicemail is unaffected. Callers can still leave messages, and those are still recorded and transcribed.
Getting recordings out of Callify
Section titled “Getting recordings out of Callify”Individual recordings download from a call’s detail page.
For the whole log, Settings → Tools → Export call history produces a CSV of every call and voicemail — date, direction, from, to, city, region, country, status, duration, and whether there’s a recording or voicemail attached. Transcripts aren’t included in the export.
